In honor of the late Lady Bird Johnson, who during her tenure as First Lady of the United States (1963-1969), served as a champion of conservation efforts, advocated for the creation of National Park Service units, lobbied for the passage of environmental legislation, and campaigned for the improvement of the character of the nation’s highway system. At 72, she founded the National Wildflower Research Center, a non-profit environmental center dedicated to the preservation and re-establishment of native plants in natural and planned landscapes.  🕊️
