Respect for the indigenous communities and guardians who live one with nature while preserving and still protecting it- THE ONE TRUE AMAZON.
The Amazon biome being Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Guyana, French Guiana, and Suriname- a total of 9 South American countries covering roughly 40% of the continent being the "lungs of our planet"...
In 1542, Francisco de Orellana, the Spanish explorer gave the Amazon River its name after being attacked by a tribe while he was exploring the region. This particular legendary tribe, the Icamiabas, which translates as 'women without husbands' reminded him of the Amazons in Greek mythology, who were a race of warrior women. And so the rainforest took its name from the river- and the lady Amazons.
